2024-26 Healthcare Equity Program Initiatives
Womens Health
We are eager to collaborate with healthcare systems to address and reduce maternal mortality risk globally by enhancing education and fostering community-based engagement. Recent findings from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have highlighted alarming disparities in pregnancy-related mortality rates, particularly among racial and ethnic minority groups. Women in these populations are up to four times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications compared to their peers. Notably, up to 80 percent of these deaths are deemed preventable with appropriate interventions.
Given these disparities, there is a critical need for continued research to identify and address the root causes of these inequities. Studies suggest that improving access to quality prenatal and postnatal care, enhancing health literacy, and implementing targeted interventions can significantly mitigate these risks.
Moreover, there are significant opportunities for women to take an active role in their healthcare outcomes. By engaging in educational programs and community-based initiatives, women can better manage their health and navigate the complexities of maternal care. Effective engagement strategies and personalized care models are essential to empowering women, ensuring they receive timely, equitable, and high-quality care throughout their pregnancy journey. Investing in these areas not only aims to close the gap in maternal health disparities but also enhances overall health outcomes for women globally.
Population Health Program Development
The US healthcare landscape presents complex challenges due to variations in access, geography, and socio-economic factors such as age, race, income, and health literacy. To effectively improve healthcare quality and reduce disparities, it is crucial to develop population health programs that integrate high levels of patient adherence and provide individuals with control over their healthcare through robust education and engagement tools.
The Economics of Healthcare Quality and Medical Errors highlights that approximately 200,000 Americans die annually from preventable medical errors, costing $19.5 billion. To address these issues, Consensus Healthcare Consultants collaborates with healthcare and community-based organizations to design, map, and implement programs that enhance patient education, engagement, and individualized care models. Our goal is to bridge gaps in healthcare disparities and promote effective, patient-centered care across diverse populations.
